India vs Australia Boxing Day Test Match Challenges for team India

Ongoing India vs Australia test series is nicely balanced at the moment. India comfortably winning the first test match at Adelaide while the Aussies fighting back hard in the Second Test at Optus Stadium in Perth, which means that the series is leveled at 1-1 with two tests remaining.

The next Test match between the two cricketing giants is scheduled at MCG on Boxing Day i.e on 26th December. The two have met before on several occasions with Australia winning each time. The story is different this time around. India sounds a bit profound and Australia sounds a bit low and short of confidence. We cannot completely rip off Australia though. In fact, each and every team is very strong in its own backyard.

If India has to succeed in the test match it has to follow certain things:

  • Openers
The biggest headache for team India this Australian Summer has been the opening pair. Neither M Viajy nor KL Rahul has been doing well as an opener. Prithvi Shaw was the original opener but he ruled out of the series adds more salt to the wound. Thus the skipper has to look for alternatives for the opening slot! Personally speaking, both Kl and Vijay deserve a last chance to prove themselves but Virat Kohli hs the final word afterall.

  • Batting Failure
India as a batting unit has not lived up to the expectations they usually set for themselves. Apart from Virat, Pujara, and glimpses of Ajinkya Rahane, no one has really played a part in the batting department. With the availability of Mayank Agrawal, they now have various option to try out with hoping Rohit Sharma to be fit and fine for playing the next game too.

  • Team Selection
Team India have to get their team selection damn right at MCG. In the last test, India played with four seamers while the Aussies with a spinner and that was the separating line between the two. Apart from that India has to believe in themselves that they can win from any situation and show the fighting spirit ey showed in the first test at Adelaide. If all the boxes tick then there's no stopping the fire for sure.

Micheal Hussey has a special message for team India,

"Conditions in Perth were quite unique and in Melbourne condition is totally different from the previous test. I think he(Hardik Pandya) is a bit like Mitchel Marsh when he's in form he goes very well".

Note: Third India vs Australia test match will be played at MCG on 26th December 2018.
